“eight, nine, ten!” Shouted George as he opened his eyes. Hide and seek was game for the evening and after two days of heavy rainfall, he was delighted to be able to go outside and play with his friends. In the countryside of England, rainfall was extremely common and happened most of the time. Because this, whenever sunlight seem to make it through the crowded clouds, George’s family will have a huge BBQ with his neighbors. George would always enjoy BBQs because there wasn’t too much to do in the countryside. It was mostly just small shops and vast forests full of different animals. Every time George’s dad was back from work, they would go out and explore different parts of the forest to find new animals.
George was very good at hide and seek considering that he explores the forest almost everyday so he began to explore the very common places of the forest because that was when most of his friends were hiding. All of a sudden, he saw a different path that was never there before. A path that he never knew. There was a large path entering into the northern part of the forest but the was another path. Which was very narrow but big enough for a small person to be able to fit in. George was baffled. He thought to himself if he should go into the unexplored paves of the forest. His dad always used to tell him that he should never go into bits of the forest that you were unsure about. But George was an ambitious young child. From a young he was always bright child. So he ventured into the path completely unaware of what the consequences he could face.
As he carefully walked through the forest, he felt something unexplainable. He had a sense of eerie crawling on his back. It felt like the tree were. Moving. Or something like that. He stopped suddenly. He look and saw something unfamiliar. He could see a doll. A doll made of soft cotton. With a pink dress. But had no head. George immediately examined the doll trying to see if it was anyone’s. It eventually came clear to home.” This is Kelly’s,” he thought as he could recognize it since she always took great care of it. This was extremely unnatural for her to do this. But as he went to check what was behind him… “Boo!!” Screamed Daniel was he grab his back. Verona was extremely startled by this as she screamed in fear. “You scared me,” gasped Verona as she tries to regain her breath.
“I’m sorry,” chuckled Daniel as his examined the doll.” That’s Kelly’s?”.
“Yes she must have dropped it,”said Verona.
“Where’s the head?” Questioned Daniel as he snatched the doll off Verona’s hands.
“I’m not sure,”said Verona.
Daniel was tall dark-skinned boy much older than Verona but wasn’t very intelligent. As the sun seemed to set with not too many hours left before they have to go back home. Verona and Daniel carried on walking through the mysterious forest.
After twenty minutes of clueless wandering, Verona was getting slightly worried. They had no idea where they were going with no signs to direct them. But suddenly,” Help! Someone help!!” shouted a random voice in the distance.
“That sounds like Kelly,” said Daniel.
“We have to find her,” said Verona,” Kelly is that you,” bellowed Erin’s as she awaits a response. It was completely silent. No one said anything. No response. Verona and Daniel start running. Hoping that she is alright. But after running for a long distance, Verona lost her breath as she stopped, panting to catch her breath. The heat from the sun felt like for cooking her back. But she look around. She couldn’t see Daniel. She couldn’t see him. But she’s saw something else. Something that was tall. A dark figure standing next to a sign. Verona was petrified. She examined the sign to see what our said. It read ‘Hello Verona’ in bold red bolt wing but it wasn’t paint or marker because the liquid was dripping. However there was something more scary that concerned Verona. On the sign there was the head of Kelly doll and a brown bag full blood.
“Oh hi Verona, do want to play hide and seek?” Asked the black figure. Verona was starstruck. She was too sacred to run.” I just wanna have… Fun.”
On this day the small town was forbidden from going to the forest and on this day every year, kids remember the day where kids like Verona should never fall the same mistake again.
